Fathers & Children

What does it mean to YOU?

In the modern world many aspects of life have changed dramatically in just the past few years. Fatherhood might not be one of the things that you think about when you hear the word change, but to some this is the most life changing event they will ever face.
So what does being a father mean? For some it is the opportunity to bring life into this world and raise the next generation. I want to hear from fathers out there what it means to them to be a father. Please comment and let the world know about your experience of being a father has been like.

I'm going to be a mom soon, so I can't say what being a father is like, but I know fathers are incredibly important in the life of every child! My father passed away when I was 8 and although my mom did an amazing job raising me and my two siblings, I still needed a father. My mom re-married 3 years later but I still struggled because I needed a father figure in my life I could be close to (which wasn't happening at the time with my step-father). So when I was a teen, I was constantly in serious relationships because I instinctively needed to feel love from a man I could trust. Thankfully I didn't get married any earlier than I did (just two months before my 20th birthday), but if I wouldn't have had my step-father I think I would have done more with the young men I dated that I would have regretted. I'm so grateful for my husband now and for the stability and love he will provide our children. A father's love is a kind of love that cannot be substituted in any way!
