Action to Change

I propose that a new organization be created called Family Founders of America . This organization’s purpose is to promote good fathering, improve the public’s knowledge about the influence of fathers on their children and to create an environment in which fathers can gain valuable skills in become the best father they can be toward their children.

Studies have shown that teenage girls with the influence of a father in the home are less likely to engage in sexual activity at an early age. Fathers eating attitudes are reflected by their children (The 'Healthy Dads, Healthy Kids" randomized controlled trial: efficacy of a healthy lifestyle program for overweight fathers and their children, By P.J. Morgan).

This program would be composed of grassroots organization that would have a group meeting time in which fathers and their children would be involved in activities that would range from playing baseball to cooking and so much more. Through these classes fathers can learn good habits of interaction with their child and how to meet all of the child's needs (emotional, physical, and social).Other programs with similar goals have been created, including a project in Alabama that recently received a 134K grant to fund the group (http://blog.al.com/live/2011/12/baldwin_fatherhood_program_rec.html).

So take a stance and be COURAGEOUS! Become the best father you can be!
